Cote d’Ivoire Equity Market | 24 Aug 2015: BRVM ends lower today, composite index 0.47% lower … financial sector 1.57% down
Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire (Capital Markets in Africa):- BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Monday, lower than the previous day. BRVM 10 index decreased from 300.30 to 297.01 points, a drop of 1.10 percent. BRVM Composite index lost 0.47 percent to 294.94 against 296.33 points previously.
The equity market capitalization lost XOF 34 billion (about US$52 million) to close at XOF 7,278 billion relative to previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,312 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was recorded at 311,214 traded stocks relative to 706,903 recorded at previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 2,180 million (against XOF 2,241 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 34 traded securities via 252 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATED TOGO with 226,716 traded securities (accounted for almost 73 percent of the total volume). SONATEL SENEGAL recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 1,472 million contributing nearly about 68 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 19.25 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 23.30.
Among the 34 traded securities today, 15 stocks experienced price gains, 7 witnessed price drops and 12 stocks price remained unchanged relative to previous closing price. BERNABE COTE D’IVOIRE emerged as the top price gainer by surging by 7.50 percent to end at XOF 118,255. CFAO MOTORS COTE D’IVOIRE advanced by 4.70 percent at XOF 73,500 and ONATEL BURKINA FASO traded at XOF 11,995 after jumping by 3.41 percent. CIE COTE D’IVOIRE price advanced by 2.48 percent to close at XOF 82,000 and BOLLORE AFRICA LOGISTIC COTE D’IVOIRE ended at XOF 190,000 with 2.15 percent gains.
ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATED TOGO fell by 3.45 percent to settle at XOF 56.00 as the biggest loser and SERVAIR ABIDJAN COTE D’IVOIRE slid by 2.49 percent to close at XOF 78,000. Likewise, AIR LIQUIDE COTE D’IVOIRE plunged by 2.41 percent to close at XOF 20,005 and PALM COTE D’IVOIRE plummeted 1.84 percent to trade at XOF 16,000. SONATEL SENEGAL settled at XOF 25,605 after tumbling by 1.52 percent.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index soared by 0.18 percent at 164.63 points but public utilities sector index plunged by 0.60 percent to close at 810.65 points. The distribution sector index surged by 1.93 percent to end at 541.78 points but financial services sector index plummeted by 1.57 percent to end at 106.87 points. The transportation sector index rose by 2.10 percent to close at 926.6 points. Agriculture sector index tumbled by 0.92 percent to end at 203.73 and miscellaneous sector index remained steady at XOF 561.79 points.
